
Getting to Atami
Atami is a city of Shizuoka Prefecture, located between Tokyo and Osaka. With more than 6 million Japanese tourists visiting Atami each year, it is renowned as a resort area to help city dwellers relax and unwind. Atami is conveniently located just 40 minutes by bullet train from Tokyo, enabling easy side trips from the capital. Attractions include the sea and mountains, numerous hot springs, mountain passes that provide stunning views of Mount Fuji, as well as the chance to sample sushi, expertly made from freshly caught fish. Atami City is well known as a gateway to Mount Fuji and the Izu Peninsula. The popular destination of Hakone is also within easy reach, accessible by a one hour bus trip. For sightseeing, the Izu Peninsula can be conveniently accessed by train.

From Jyukkokutouge Pass, located just 35 minutes by bus from JR Atami station (or 25 minutes by taxi), one is rewarded with breathtaking views of Mt. Fuji, Suruga Bay with its pine groves of Miho, and 360 degree views of Sagami Bay. Panoramic views of Mt. Fuji, Izu and Shonan can also be enjoyed by boats departing Atami Port for Hatsushima Island, just 25 minutes away. Atami boasts breathtaking views of Mt. Fuji and the sea, as well as beautiful neon lights of the city.
