Enjoy a three-minute walk in the air on the Atami Ropeway which goes to the summit of Hachimanyama where you can enjoy Atami’s premier observatory. From there it is just a 3-minute walk to Atami Castle which is located on a 100m high hill where you can enjoy views of the ocean and Atami City. The castle was built as a tourist facility in 1959 when many vacationers flocked to the town. Within the castle there is a samurai culture museum with displays of items from the lives of feudal lords such as swords, armour. There is also an ukiyo-e printing museum, a photo corner where you can put on costumes and dress up like a samurai or princess. Be sure to take advantage of the experience to set back in time by trying on a samurai costume guaranteed to be fun. In the basement amusement corner, games (which normally are not free) can be enjoyed at no cost! Play table tennis and other ball games, perfect for couples and groups alike.
The views from Atami Castle are breathtaking at night you can enjoy views that are called the “Oriental Monaco”. In addition, in spring you can enjoy cherry blossoms and in summer you can enjoy watching fireworks being set off from Atami Castle and feel like you are lord of the castle!
Around Atami Castle there are other theme parks for adults such as the “Atami Adult Museum”, “Atami Trick Art Museum” and other entertainment spots! Come as a family, a couple or group and delight in various forms of entertainment.
